Louis M. Kodumal

Mr. Kodumal is a graduate of Boston College (B.A., Economics and Political Science, 1992) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D., 1995). He has been admitted to the state bars of New Jersey (December, 1995) and Pennsylvania (January, 1996), as well as to the U.S. District Court, District for New Jersey (December, 1995); U. S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania (February, 1997); U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit (September, 2000); and the U.S. Supreme Court (March, 2009). He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Delaware County (PA) Bar Associations.

Mr. Kodumal uses his skills to counsel clients and guide them through complex real estate, land use, zoning and commercial transactions, and to represent them in litigation involving matters such as commercial mortgage foreclosures, eminent domain cases, and real estate tax assessment and tax exemption appeals.  Mr. Kodumal has extensive experience representing the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Chester and the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Coatesville in matters involving urban redevelopment, eminent domain, inter‐governmental cooperation, and related issues of law. He has been featured in the “Top Lawyers 2010” and “Top Lawyers 2013” editions of Main Line Today magazine. He has been awarded a BV® Peer Review Rating by Martindale‐Hubbell.

Mr. Kodumal’s land use and real estate project experience includes development of a multi-national corporate headquarters; financing of municipal park and waterfront recreational improvements; negotiation and drafting of land acquisition and grant agreements for development of a professional sports stadium; and negotiation and preparation of leases, sales contracts, licenses, easements, and other documents for industrial, retail, restaurant, professional office, and other commercial and residential uses. He has represented clients before a wide range of governing bodies, zoning hearing boards, planning commissions, tax assessment appeal boards, and other boards and agencies. He has served as a lecturer on residential and commercial lease matters, as well as landlord & tenant law, for the Real Estate Practices Committee of the Delaware County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the National Business Institute, and other groups.

In June of 2013,  Mr. Kodumal was appointed by then Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) President Forest Myers to serve as an inaugural member of the PBA Shale Energy Law Committee, and he continues to serve on that Committee. In May of 2014, Mr. Kodumal completed his term as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law (RPPT) Section Council, having previously served as Vice-Chair, Real Estate Division; Treasurer; and Secretary for the Council.  Mr. Kodumal has served as a Co-Course Planner and CLE presenter for the RPPT Section’s 2015 Annual Retreat in Philadelphia, 2016 Annual Retreat at the Inn at Pocano Manor, and 2017 Annual Retreat at Nemacolin Woodlands. He has also testified on behalf of the PBA before the Urban Affairs Committee of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on matters of adverse possession law and blight remediation.

Mr. Kodumal has served for several years as an Arbitration Panel Chairman in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas. His volunteer activities with the Delaware County Bar Association include service as a Juror for the High School Mock Trial program, as well as past membership on the Bar Association’s Law Day Committee. Mr. Kodumal currently serves as Solicitor for the Foundation of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Southeast Delaware County, and has previously served as Silent Auction Co-Chair for the Clara Barton Ball Committee of the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the American Red Cross. He resides in Upper Providence Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania and has served on the Township’s Ethics Committee.
